China: UMG silicon project in Zhejiang

ProPower Renewable Energy Co. Ltd a China-based upgraded metallurgical grade silicon producer has recently began construction on a new UMG silicon project in the city of Shangyu in Zhejiang Province. The first phase of the project, with a total investment of CNY 130 million is scheduled to start operation in September this year. The project is expected to have 10 million tons of annual production capacity by December. In addition, the company plans to expand the project’s production capacity to 50 million tons as part of the second phase of construction.
