Couplers engineered for power transmission

Multi-Beam coupler Huco Engineering Industries has re-engineered its helical beam coupler design for use in power transmission applications. A development of the helical beam concept, the Multi-Beam coupler comprises one or two sets of flexible elements, in effect curved beams from which the generic design derives its name. The Multi-Beam has multiple, three-start beams with important benefits for power transmission applications. First, stresses induced in the coupler are spread evenly between the three beams, enabling the Multi-Beam coupler to transmit more power, size for size, than single beam versions. Second, the Multi-Beam design is intrinsically balanced, enabling it to be readily adapted to high speeds without the need for balancing. Other benefits of the Multi-Beam design include single-piece construction with no moving parts or elastomeric elements to wear, and backlash free operation with low wind-up. They are manufactured from a single piece of corrosion resistant stainless steel, aluminium or acetal, making them ideal for applications in the food and chemical sectors. In sizes up to 2.50in diameter, Multi-Beam couplers can accommodate shaft sizes up to 2.0in. Stainless-steel versions have a peak torque rating of 103ft.lb. Clamp or set-screw fastenings can be supplied with keyways and special bore shapes where required.
