A contract worth just under NOK 500 million covering subsea systems for Statoil’s joint Skinfaks/Rimfaks project in the North Sea has been awarded to FMC Kongsberg Subsea. Proven in 2002, Skinfaks comprises several small reservoirs. Rimfaks has been on stream since 2000 through a tie-back to Gullfaks A, and further development will improve recovery of its reserves. Both fields lie in the Tampen area, and will be tied back to Gullfaks C via existing infrastructure. Scheduled to start next summer and be completed a year later, the FMC Kongsberg Subsea delivery embraces one subsea template and a satellite, as well as six Xmas trees and two manifolds. Production from a water depth of around 140 metres is due to begin in November 2006. The contract remains conditional on approval of Statoil’s plan for development and operation by the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy, which is expected to reach a decision in February/March.
