Irving Oil Ltd, St John, Canada, and TransCanada Energy Ltd, a unit of TransCanada PipeLines Ltd., Calgary, plan to build an USD 80 million co-generation plant at Irving Oilâs refinery at St John, Canadaâs largest. The proposed facility, to be fuelled by natural gas, will produce steam and power for refinery operations. The project, designed to enhance the refineryâs energy efficiency and operational reliability, also supports New Brunswickâs Energy Policy that promotes co-generation as the âmost energy-efficient electricity generation option.â?
