Cockerill Mechanical Industries, based in Seraing, and Welding Services Inc., based in Atlanta-Norcross, USA, have joined forces to create âCMI Welding Services.â? CMI is a Belgian engineering and industrial maintenance group with its main activities in the steel, energy and industrial equipment industries. It specialises in the maintenance of industrial boilers and thermal equipment. Its activities are performed from several locations in the Walloon country, Flanders, Netherlands, and France. It relies on extensive know-how in boiler design and manufacturing and a work force specialised in tube fabricating and high technology welding.
Welding Services Inc. is a specialist in welding applications, with primary emphasis on the power and processing industries. It has pioneered and developed the high-performance overlay technology trademarked as UNIFUSE ®. This process, using high-grade stainless and nickel-based super-alloys, has significantly increased the life of waterwalls, boiler tubes and other components in severe erosion/corrosion working conditions. These applications cover a wide range in the waste-to-energy, coal burning power plants, as well as steel and processing industries. The joint venture, âCMI Welding Services,â? incorporated 29 April 2003 in Belgium, is headquartered in Seraing, near Liege. The venture is in charge of the market development and application of overlay products in the French and Belgian energy markets and the steel industry world-wide.
