Usiminas sells CLC-treated heavy plates

In line with its strategy of adding more value to its products, Usiminas has just sold the first lot of heavy plates produced with the CLC technology to the energy industry. In total, 2,500tns were sold to Voith Hydro do Brasil for application in the Belo Monte Hydroelectric Power Plant project.

Crusader to start iron ore project in 2013

Australia's Crusader Resources plans to start production at its Posse iron ore project in Brazil in 2013 after it has received an operating license from local authorities.

The license allows the production of 300,000mt/year of run-of-mine ore using dry beneficiation.

SES secures GBP 1M order by AECOM

Gindalbie makes first magnetite shipment from Kara

Australia-based iron-ore producer Gindalbie Metals Limited (Gindalbie) has announced that it has shipped the first magnetite concentrate cargo from its Karara iron ore project in Western Australia via Karara Export Terminal in Geraldton.

Sandvik signs major order with Sasol

At the end of December 2012, Sandvik Mining signed a Mining Systems contract with Sasol Mining (Pty) Ltd for the Shondoni Mine Materials Handling project in South Africa. The value of the contract is approximately SEK 650M and will contribute to Sandvik Mining's business during the years 2013 until 2015.

BP begins production on Skarv Field, Norway

BP and partners announced the successful start of production from the Skarv field in the Norwegian Sea, one of a series of new major upstream projects that BP brought into production in 2012. Production started on 31 December 2012.

Stamicarbon wins contracts for Erdos urea plant

Stamicarbon has been awarded two contracts for a new urea plant with Inner Mongolia Erdos Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd. China. Stamicarbon is the Licensing and IP Center of Maire Tecnimont S.p.A. One of the contracts is for the license and process design package and the other is for supply of the high-pressure proprietary equipment for the plant.
