USA: deepwater subsea contract

Anadarko Petroleum (Canada) and Dominion Oil and Gas has awarded Aker Kvaerner the subsea umbilical and production control contract for its Independence Development.

Mexico: modular cryogenic plant

ICA Fluor, Aliso Viejo, California, USA, the industrial engineering and construction company, jointly owned by Fluor Corp. and Empresas ICA Sociedad Controladora, has announced the signing of a contract for the engineering, procurement, construction and start-up support services for a modular cryogenic plant for Pemex Gas y Petroquímica Básica.

Qatar: steamcracker contract

Technip, Paris, France, has signed a letter of intent with Qatar Petroleum, ChevronPhillips Chemical Company LLC, Qatar Petrochemical Co. and Total Petrochemicals in view to execute an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract worth above USD 800 million for the realization of an ethylene cracker located at Ras Laffan in Qatar.

India: refinery capacity doubled

Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd (HPCL), India, will double its Visakhapatnam (India) refinery capacity to 300,000 barrels per day in three years and has offered Saudi Aramco a stake in the expanded unit, the company’s chairman said.

Germany: copolymers boost

BASF is increasing its production capacity for copolymers of vinyl chloride to 12,000 tons/year at its Ludwigshafen, Germany, site.

Virgin islands: hydro-treating unit

Technip (Paris) has been awarded, by Hovensa, a lump sum turnkey contract for a new hydro-treating unit to be located at its refinery in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands.

India: MRPL capacity expansion

ONGC, India, is planning to expand the capacity of Mangalore Refineries and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL), India, to 15 million tonnes.

Nigeria: Eni LNG projects

Italy’s Eni is planning to more than quadruple its liquefaction capacity by 2008, concentrating on new projects in North and West Africa as part of a wider strategic plan to strengthen the company’s presence in European gas markets and in the liquefied natural gas (LNG).
