Former Dounreay employee lands ROV position

Mr. Kevin Macleod of Caithness, who was working as an instrument technician with Johnson Controls at Dounreay until recently, has been taken on as an apprentice ROV pilot technician with Fugro, one of the world’s largest ROV operators.

SENER opens office in Brazil

Engineering and technology group SENER has opened an office in São Paulo, Brazil. The company establishes an operating and permanent division in the country made up of about 300 Brazilian professionals specialized in engineering and construction that will carry out projects in the fields of power and process, civil engineering and architecture, aerospace and marine engineering.

Essar to get mining rights in Zimbabwe

newsitemIndustry and Commerce Minister Mr Welshman Ncube said that there are no sticking issues to the transfer of mining rights to Essar Global which acquired a 60% stake in Ziscosteel from the Zimbabwean government. However, Minister Ncube said that it was only a matter of time before the government transferred the mining and prospecting rights over Ripple Creek and Mwanesi Range to the Indian steel company. He said that “As far as I know there are no sticking points because all the matters are covered by specific Cabinet resolutions, the mining claims whether it is on the Ripple Creek or Buchwa, they agreed they have already written letters for the transfer of those.

Visoka increases finned tubes production

Visoka has increased its production output of high efficiency finned tubes. The company has commissioned a new CNC rolling plant and the high-fin tubes production is now better controlled through this innovative development. These Mono and Bi-metallic high finned heat exchanger tubes give excellent thermal transfer results for a variety of applications.
