The independent engineering consulting company of RINA Group, D’Appolonia is headquartered in Italy and has recently strengthened its expertise in the marine offshore oil and gas sector by acquiring a majority stake in SeaTech Srl. SeaTech gives analysis, design services and also manages projects for offshore pipelines, subsea systems and structures, met-ocean monitoring systems and provides engineering supervision services on site.

The French engineering company manufactures railway locomotives, various trains, trams, power equipment, and electrostatic precipitators for industrial production, and is possibly most well-known for its TGV and AGV series of high-speed trains. Fives will provide high-end technological and process expertise covering from upstream to downstream production processes: steel making, hot rolling, pickling, cold rolling, annealing and galvanizing.

Aker Solutions has notified employees about a workforce reduction in its Norwegian subsea business due to a continued market slowdown. About 500 permanent positions at facilities in Fornebu, Stokke, Moss and Tranby in Norway may be affected. “Activity in the Norwegian offshore services market has declined considerably over the past year as oil companies scale back spending and postpone projects,” said Per Harald Kongelf, head of Aker Solutions’ Norwegian operations.

Superior Tube, a manufacturer of precision metal tubing for safety critical applications, has received a contract from TEMA India to supply heat exchanger tubing for a new Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel. The vessel is among several commissioned by Brazilian energy giant Petrobras to develop the oil reserves in the pre-salt fields in the Santos basin off the Brazilian coast.

DuPont has named Jeanmarie F. Desmond as its vice president and controller succeeding Barry J. Niziolek who has served the company for 34 years. Desmond, who joined DuPont in 1989, held the post of general auditor and chief ethics and compliance leader.
