James P. Bouchard, chairperson and CEO of Esmark Europe, the European investment vehicle of Esmark, announced that it has been selected as the winning bidder in the privatisation process for Železara Smederevo Steel Works by the Republic of Serbia.
Esmark Europe will now begin the process of finalising the strategic partnership agreement with the Republic of Serbia to take a controlling 80.1% stake in Železara Smederevo.
Severstal received the SFS1268 certificate permitting the Company to make shipments of rebar to Finland and other Baltic countries, where there is high demand for these steel products.

Mechel OAO, Russian mining and metals company, signed a memorandum of understanding with China’s steelmaking major Baosteel Resources Corporation, for an increase of coal supplies to 1.4Mt of coking coal a year.
According to the memorandum, Mechel will supply Baosteel Resources with up to 1.4Mt of coking coal.
Gamesa has signed two new contracts in China, one to supply 50MW to Hebei Construction & Investment Group (HCIG) and another to supply 42MW to the Chinese wind farm developer UPC.The scope of the agreement with HCIG encompasses the supply, installation and commissioning of 25 of Gamesa's G97-2.0MW turbines, at the Nandianziliang wind complex located in the province of Shanxi, in northern China.
