BSS drives stainless steel forward

BSS, the UK distributor of heating, ventilating and pipeline equipment, has won a GBP 300,000 contract to supply 5000 metres of 1387 mild steel and stainless steel piping for the compressed air and chilled water systems at the Vauxhall production plant in Ellesmere Port, Wirral. The fast-track project is the largest single stainless steel pipeline assignment BSS has ever been involved in. The compressed air and chilled water systems feed the main pipes operating the robots that paint the vehicles. A variety of steel and carbon steel products were provided including stainless steel schedule 10, 316L and BS1387 steel pipe, elbows, couplings, reducers and flanges. BSS Wirral was responsible for sourcing all the products for the plant and has worked closely alongside contractor Slater Mechanical Services throughout.
