Cognex Corp. has earned an order for two Cognex SmartView Metals surface-inspection systems from AvestaPolarit, for installation at their Meadowhall plant in Sheffield, England. The systems will inspect carbon and stainless precision strip on two rewind lines that follow cold rolling. SmartView systems inspect for scratches, slivers, and roll cracks on materials destined primarily for automotive customers. The Cognex SmartView system automatically detects, identifies, and displays defects in metal and other materials as they are being produced, in real time.
