Avesta Welding revamps basic electrodes

Avesta Welding has launched new formulations of the basic variants of standard electrodes Avesta 308L/MVR, 316L/SKR, 347/MVNb, 2205 and 309L, improving their properties and making them more welder friendly. When compared to previous formulations, the advantages include improved mechanical properties, particularly impact strength at low temperatures; improved slag removal and minimum residual slag on the finished weld; improved joint geometry and less welding spatter. The new modified composition of the basic 308L/MVR and 316L/SKR electrodes now meet impact strength requirements at cryo-temperatures (–196°C).
