On 26 May 2009, The Australian Stainless Steel Development Association (ASSDA) will be holding a technical information night on stainless steels for the food industry. According to the ASSDA, while stainless steel is widely used in the food processing industries, its strengths and limitations must be understood for best results. The information night, to be held at the Engineers Australia Auditorium in Melbourne, will explore the design, fabrication and operational steps of the process through ASSDA’s Food Specification. The seminar will provide a general overview of the issues involved, as well as the specifics of purge welding for pipe and tube, post fabrication cleaning, etc. Materials scientist Dr Graham Sussex will be speaking at the information night, and there will also be a panel of industry leaders present.
