Alstom wins Mexican contract

Alstom has been awarded a 12-year operation support and maintenance contract for the 1000 MW Monterrey III gas-fired combined-cycle power plant in Mexico. The contract was placed by Iberdrola Energia Monterrey SA de CV, a special purpose company established by Iberdrola (Spain). The contract covers operation support and all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of the plant’s four power trains, including gas and steam turbines, generators and control systems. Monterrey III is the largest combined-cycle power plant in Mexico using Alstom’s advanced GT24 gas turbine technology. The plant, which is located close to Mexico’s third largest city, Monterrey, comprises four 250 MW combined cycle blocks in single shaft configuration. Each block includes a GT24 gas turbine, heat recovery steam generator, steam turbine, and generator. Alstom was responsible for the bulk of the engineering, procurement and construction work after winning the order to build Monterrey III in 2000.
