Allegheny Ludlum buys EAFs

Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp. has awarded Danieli & C SpA, through Danieli’s Centro Met division an order for the supply of two new electric arc furnaces. The new furnaces, to be installed at the Brackenridge Facility, will have a tapping weight of 110 tons and will be equipped with state-of-the-art mechanical components. Features include current-conducting arms, water-cooled panels and roof, bearing swing system, and servo-positioning hydraulics. Danieli Automation will provide the total control system including Level 1 machine control with HMI’s, Enhanced Electrode Regulation System, Level 2-process control, and the Power Demand System. The first furnace is scheduled for delivery in August 2003 and the second will be delivered in May of 2004.
