AK plants receive ISO registration

All of AK Steel’s steel facilities have been awarded certificates of registration under ISO 14001 for environmental management systems. Developed by the International Organization for Standardization in Geneva, Switzerland, ISO 14001 is a set of voluntary standards based on international consensus among environmental experts. ISO 14001 standards enable an organization to control the impact of its activities, products or services on the environment.
The company’s works in Ashland, Kentucky, became the first US integrated steel plant to receive the registration in 2001. Since then, AK Steel’s steel plants have all passed the rigorous independent audits and have been awarded certificates of registration.
