BUTTING implements two sustainability projects

At BUTTING, two key projects are currently underway at Tieling site in China: switching to electric forklifts and expanding its photovoltaic system. These projects embody its vision of progress: responsible, technology-driven and forward-looking.

BUTTING Tieling has been using its first electric forklift truck, which has a load capacity of 3.5 tonnes and is equipped with a powerful lithium-ion battery, an extended lift mast and a comfortable full cabin. The advantages are lower emissions, less noise and no harmful exhaust fumes, which is good for the climate, employees and efficiency.

The management in Tieling is also committed to a sustainable energy supply. After a long wait, approval has recently been granted for the expansion of the photovoltaic system. Work is in full swing on installing around 3,000 m² of solar panels on the roofs of halls 3 and 4.

Along with the existing system on Hall 1, this will achieve a total output of just under 1 megawatt in future. An intelligent energy management system (EMS) controls the efficient use or grid feed of the energy generated.
