Amber and Niek Meijering have officially acquired a 49% share in Paul Meijering Metalen, marking a significant milestone in the company’s history. This transition reinforces the long-term continuity and growth of the business for years to come.
Niek joined the company five years ago and has since become an integral part of the commercial sales team. Currently, he is focusing on clients who are trading companies and fabricators in the Netherlands and Belgium. Amber joined the company in 2024 after completing her Master’s degree in Marketing, and currently contributes to the marketing team.
Family business
Amber highlights the unique advantages of transitioning the company to the next generation. “Family succession is relatively rare in our industry, and having two children actively involved makes this transition even more distinctive,” she notes. As a family-owned business, we maintain direct lines of communication, allowing us to respond swiftly to customer needs.”
Niek emphasizes another key benefit: “One of the greatest strengths of our structure is the strong sense of connection among our employees. Working for a family-owned company fosters a more personal and supportive environment—our team members are not just numbers. This culture has helped us build lasting relationships, not only within our team but also with our customers, fostering loyalty and long-term partnerships.”
“Our customers know and trust us, and our relationships are built on a foundation of mutual respect,” Niek continues. “Many of my clients previously worked with my grandmother when she was actively involved in the business, and now they continue to do business with us. This loyalty spans decades—some partnerships have lasted 20 to 30 years. Our customers return to us because of the personalised service and strong relationships we have cultivated over time.”
Looking to the future
Looking ahead, Amber and Niek will continue to deepen their understanding of all aspects of the company and its clients before gradually stepping into more strategic leadership roles. “The core values and identity of the company will remain unchanged,” Amber emphasises. “Over the next five years, Niek and I will progressively take on greater responsibilities to ensure a seamless transition.”
Embracing growth and innovation
The past year has been a period of dynamic transformation for Paul Meijering Metalen, marked by strategic investments in both talent and technology.
Amber shares, “Last year, we welcomed a new Finance Manager who is playing a key role in modernising and further developing our operations. This year, we also appointed a new Commercial Director to lead our sales team. Both bring valuable expertise from large corporations, which we can effectively apply to enhance the agility and efficiency of our family-owned business.”
Another significant advancement is the addition of two new tube laser cutters from HSG. “These machines are currently in production and will be operational by the end of the year,” Niek explains. “They will enhance our value-added services and further support the expansion of our growing cut-to-length tube business.”
Additionally, the company is strengthening its product portfolio by expanding its range of duplex fittings, increasing stock levels to ensure a reliable supply for customers worldwide.
With a catalogue of over 11,000 products across ten different grades, Paul Meijering Metalen remains committed to continuous investment in technology, equipment, and talent—ensuring the highest level of service and quality for its global customer base.
