Grand prize for TISCO’s project

The China Iron and Steel Association and the Chinese Society for Metals officially announced the appraisal results of 2014 Metallurgical Science and Technology Award on 1 September. TISCO’s ‘Micro-fine complex refractory hematite and magnetite beneficiation technology development and equipment integration for 22 million ton/year’ project won the grand prize. The ‘Duplex stainless steel bar for cross-sea bridge and its application technology development’ project won first prize. The ‘Ultra-high purity vacuum-tightness pure iron series products and its technology development’, ‘Key technology and product development of high grade stainless steel welding strip’ and ‘Technical research on non-hazardous treatment of stainless steel slag and its resource utilisation’ projects won second and third prize respectively. This is the best accomplishment that TISCO received in the appraisal of China Metallurgical Science and Technology Award over the years.

The grand prize-winning project solved the key and difficult technique problems of micro-fine ore grinding, classification, floating, concentration and so on. This is a breakthrough in micro-fine complex refractory hematite and magnetite beneficiation technology for promoting the development and utilisation of micro-fine complex refractory mineral resources and provided valuable experiences for the construction of the oversize iron mines in China.
