Fronius’ new Robacta TX torch body changeover system reduces idle time and increases process reliability, system availability, welding quality and productivity. The Robacta TX shortens the downtime associated with changing a torch body as it only takes 20 to 30 seconds to remove and insert a new torch body. When compared to conventional changeovers, the Robacta TX saves EUR 25 for the welding cell and EUR 10 for the service technician for a total of EUR 35 per change. This can amount to EUR 25,000 a year, if three torch bodies are changed every day. The Robacta TX changeover system is made up of a console that can accommodate up to 10 torch bodies and the device for cutting the welding wire is flanged onto the console. Cutting of the wire before the torch body is changed, winding back of the wire, its tray, actuating the interchangeable coupling, picking up the next torch body, winding forward of the wire and cutting it to the correct stick out are all completed separately and verified by a sensor system. The Robacta TX system is ideal for gas cooled and water cooled torches.
