Marcegaglia, the largest manufacturing plant in China specializing in the production of welded precision tubes, will host a pre opening ceremony on 3 December 2010. The official opening ceremony of the 714,000sq/m facility located in Yangzhou (Guangling Industrial Park) is scheduled for 10 April 2011. Currently, the plant is in its first development phase and consists of 153,000sq/m of production area equipped with European manufacturing systems. 4200sq/m is dedicated to office space. An estimated EUR 150 million has gone into the project as part of Marcegaglia’s ongoing internationalization plan. Production began in September 2010 with an estimated output of 300,000tns of high end steel products per year. The products include: heavy wall, high tolerance ERW tubes for precision mechanical applications, cold-drawn (DOM) tubes for applications in automotive, hydraulic and mechanical sectors, stainless steel tubes for sectors such as automotive, process and decoration and refrigeration tubes and components (condensers) for the refrigeration industry.
