SS roofed primary school

The Aedas designed Grenoside primary school in Sheffield, UK was build using 316 marine grade stainless steel for the roof covering. Uginox AME Terne Coated Stainless Steel with its ability to take on a patina through natural weathering to a look of weathered lead. The architects added to this subterfuge by using the batten roll cap roofing solution giving a traditional appearance much desired by the local residents and school governors. The durable 316 marine grade stainless steel at the heart has a coating of tin that enables the weathering process to “dull” the surface finish to a traditional lead grey.
