Areva T&D has won two new grid reinforcement contracts in Brazil totaling EUR 40 million. Under the first contract with Brazilian utility company, Furnas Centras Eletricas, Areva will build a new high-voltage air-insulated substation located in Areinha, in the state of Espírito Santo. Areva will supply a new 345kV/138kV transformer bank and switchyard equipment including protection and control systems. In a consortium with a local contractor, Areva will also build five new air-insulated 138kV substations in Mato Grosso for utility company, Centrais Elétricas Matogrossenses (CEMAT). The scope of the contract will include the supply of power transformers, circuit breakers and disconnecting switches.
