Valinox Nucléaire awarded two contracts

Vallourec's subsidiary specialising in the production of tubes for nuclear power plants, Valinox Nucléaire, has been contracted by AREVA to manufacture tubes for eight steam generators that will equip two EDF 1,300MW reactors. The two contracts form part of EDF's programme, launched in 2011, to gradually replace the large components on its 1,300MW power plants.

AREVA wins Angra 3 project contract in Brazil

AREVA has signed a contract with the Brazilian utility Eletrobrás Eletronuclear (ETN) for approximately EUR 75M to supply additional mechanical and electrical equipment to the Angra 3 nuclear power plant.

IBERDROLA awards Areva EUR 620M contract

IBERDROLA signed its largest renewable energy contract to date, valued at approximately EUR 620M, with Areva for the supply of wind turbines to its Wikinger offshore project.The French company will supply 70 M5000-135 5MW wind turbines, worth EUR 550M.

ArcelorMittal steel for AREVA steam generators

Industeel, a subsidiary of ArcelorMittal specialising in the production of ingots and high value-added steel plates, is to supply 4,000t of steel to AREVA for the building of six steam generators at the Koeberg nuclear power station in South Africa.   AREVA won a EUR 300M contract in September to replace the generators at the nuclear power station close to Cape Town, operated by Eskom, South Africa’s public electricity company. Three French wind farm contracts finalised

Following a national public tender process, the French State has selected the group comprising GDF SUEZ, EDP Renewables, Neoen Marine and AREVA to install and operate offshore wind farms in the areas of Tréport (the 500MW wind farm in Upper Normandy) and the Isles of Yeu and Noirmoutier (the 500MW wind farm in Pays de la Loire).

1000MW wind farms planned in France

GDF SUEZ, EDP Renewables, Neoen Marine, and AREVA submitted their proposals to the French government for the installation and operation of 1,000MW of offshore wind energy – 500MW in the Le Tréport (Haute-Normandie) area and 500MW in the vicinity of the islands of Yeu and Noirmoutier (Pays-de-la-Loire).

AREVA begins MOX fuel production for Netherlands

The fabrication of the first MOX fuel for the Borssele power plant in the Netherlands began in October at AREVA’s MELOX facility. EPZ, the Dutch utility that operates the 500MWe nuclear reactor in Borssele, decided to diversify its nuclear fuel supply in 2008, and chose AREVA to fabricate MOX fuel.
