The American Welding Society will present the 2003 AWS Silver Quill Award to Stainless Steel World magazine. This award recognises the editors and publishers of a magazine outside the welding field, which publishes the best original editorial coverage on the subject of welding. The editorial selected was from the July/August 2002 issue of Stainless Steel World, “High Deposition of Welding of Francis Turbine Runners for the Three Gorges Dam Project”. The article is co-authored by Nils Thalberg, Solveig Rigdal and Leif Karlsson of ESAB AB, Sweden, John van den Broek of ESAB BV, The Netherlands, and Herbert Kaufmann, Welding Equipment AB, Sweden.
