BSSA issues first certificate

Gary Nalson from Aalco has become the first student to obtain an intermediate certificate on BSSA’s Stainless Steel Specialist Course. He is one of eight members of the sales team at the Aalco Leeds branch taking the course who recently visited AvestaPolarit’s Shepcote Lane mill in Sheffield to see for themselves how stainless steel is made.
Chris Hessey, Director and General Manager who led the party from the Leeds-based business commented, “Touring the melting shop and cold rolling facilities here has enabled the sales team to obtain an immediate understanding of the processes involved. Undoubtedly, this experience will benefit their participation on the BSSA course, which is proving a thought-provoking and very worthwhile exercise”.
Each self-study module of the BSSA course, launched earlier this year, consists of a booklet incorporating a series of multiple choice and short answer examination questions, allowing participants to learn at a pace which they can vary to the demands of their jobs.
Further information, samples of the course material or registration details can be obtained from Alison Murphy at the BSSA on telephone: +44 114 290 0888 or fax: +44 114 290 0897 e-mail enquiry@bssa.org.uk.
