Well services offshore Brazil

BJ Tubular Services has won a contract from Schlumberger Servicos de Petroleo Ltda to provide a range of tubular well services offshore Brazil on behalf of Petrobras. The multi-million dollar three-year contract provides for the running of all completions and sand screens on 20 wells on Petrobras’s Albacore Leste Field development. Located approximately 125 km offshore Rio de Janeiro state in water depths ranging from 1000 to 2000 metres, each of the wells will be horizontal with sub-sea completions. BJ Tubular Services will run 6-5/8″ production tubing of 13% chrome steel. The company will use the full ChromemasterT minimal marking CRA non-ferrous tubular handling package, in addition to the LoadmasterT single joint compensator system and the DopemasterT pipe compound applicator, which prevents excess thread compounds from entering the pipe and clogging the screens. A Special VAM EIS rental drillpipe will be used for well clean-up strings and screen/completion landing strings. Sister division BJ Completion Assembly Services will provide onshore completion assembly services to Schlumberger using BJ’s transportable Series 2000 Bucking Unit with Chromemaster Jaws. The project is to commence in March 2003.
