Weld crack detection

Zetec Inc., a supplier of non-destructive test (NDT) equipment, introduces a new line of +Point® Weld Scan Probes for weld crack detection. Zetec’s +Point Weld Scan Probes detect both transverse and longitudinal cracks within a weld or structural component. Eddy Current Testing (ECT) for crack inspection can surpass Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) sensitivity with no additional clean-up required. Rapid inspections can be easily repeated with ECT over both conductive and non-conductive coatings eliminating grinding and repainting efforts, unlike MPI. Zetec’s weld scan probes combined with our durable, battery operated, hand-held tester (MIZ®-21B) create a powerful tool for field inspections, especially in hard-to-reach or limited visibility locations. Zetec’s probes and testers are water-resistant for inspections in all types of weather. An advanced coil design and wide frequency range provide accurate crack detection on most steel types.
