Viraj launches new fully automatic SRM plant

Viraj Profiles Ltd., one of the largest producers of stainless steel engineering products, recently inaugurated its new Section Rolling Mill (SRM) plant in Maharashtra, India in the presence of senior management members.
 
Equipped with completely automated process, the plant is the first of its kind in the country on an industrial scale. It is unique in terms of online pickling facilities, automatic labelling inter-alia packaging line. This new facility would be able to manufacture more than 700 different shapes and designs of angle, flats and other profiles.

Pleased [in] commencing this long planned project and with this new plant, Viraj is going to enter into a new dimension of its history. Viraj has come a long way in last two decades. The journey which started with employee strength of 150 people has a team of more than 9,000 people today. We have always tried to take one step at a time but make that step count. I have personally always believed in forward integration to explore new market opportunities and it is with this principle that we started with one induction furnace and then slowly we moved on to manufacturing stainless steel wire rods, wires, fasteners, flanges, profiles and bars.”
 
Sharing the main reason behind this new mill, Kochhar added “We wanted to offer products to our customers faster and quicker without compromising on the quality and that is how we conceptualised the need of fully automatic Section Rolling Mill. The annual capacity of this plant will be up to 180,000 Tons per annum.”
