Vietnam hydropower plant

A hydropower development on the Da River is among five major projects planned by Vietnam during 2005. The 2400 MW Son La hydroelectric power plant will be located in the northern mountainous province of Son La. The power plant will cost an estimated USD 2.6 billion. Construction will start late this year and be completed before 2010. Site clearance for the project is under way. The other projects planned for construction during the year include the Nghi Son Cement Plant, the Vinh Tuy bridge across the Hong river in Hanoi, a 197km highway upgrade running from northern Lao Cai province to Doan Hung district of mid-land Phu Tho province and the enlarged Lang-Hoa Lac express way, linking Hanoi with Highway No. 21.
