Vallourec equips new power plant

Vallourec is supplying 4,700 tons of steam tubes and pipes for the latest ultra-supercritical coal-fired power plant currently under construction in Malaysia. The project in Mukim Jimah, close to Port Dickson 60 km south of Kuala Lumpur, incorporates two units with a capacity of 1,000 MW each. It is situated immediately on the shoreline next to the already operating Jimah power plant. The Japanese IHI Corporation, leader of the consortium for EPC, ordered special Vallourec tubes and pipes in multiple dimensions and five different steel grades. The premium tubes have been manufactured in the Group’s French, Chinese and German facilities.

The new power plant operated by Jimah East Power (JEP) is said to be commissioned in two steps, starting with the first unit in 2018, followed by the second one in 2019.
