Usiminas Mecânica has signed two new contracts to supply capital goods by for important works in the oil sector. Both projects will be supporting Petrobras in the exploration of pre-salt layer.
Usiminas Mecânica will assemble equipment for four FPSO platforms. The platform operates within a docked ship for oil exploration and has a capacity to store 180,000 barrels of extracted product daily.
As per the contract with Brasfels in Angra dos Reis (RJ), responsible for the projects of platforms P-66 and P-69, 700t of steel will be required. Four bases of cranes and other structures of the ship, as well as the I Tube (set on the side of the platform) are being produced by Usiminas Mecânica. In total, 126 sets will be assembled.
There will be four crane bases, two upper rise (also to the side of the structure) and other compositions of the platforms on the P-67 and P-70. These devices add up to 2,60000 tons of steel into the contract with the consortium Integra.
Together, the two projects will use 3,3000 tons of Usiminas steel, with 200,000 hours of production, planned between October this year and August 2014. “These supplies are important because they are aligned with the strategic vision of the company, seeking new markets and consolidating Usiminas Mecânica as a major supplier in the offshore market”, said the sales manager of Usiminas Mecânica, Magnus Corradi Mello.
