USA: solar power complex

Bureau Veritas has been selected to lead the construction of the Ivanpah Solar Power Complex Project in California. Owned by BrightSource Energy, the Ivanpah Solar Power Complex will be the first large-scale solar thermal project built in California in nearly two decades and the world’s largest once it is completed in mid-2012. The approximately 400MW Ivanpah Solar Power Complex will consist of three separate plants and provide electricity to Pacific Gas and Electric Co. and Southern California. The complex will employ a closed-loop dry-cooling technology, reducing water use by 90%. Upon completion, it is expected that the complex will nearly double the amount of commercial solar thermal electricity currently produced in the US.
