USA: Great River to build own power plant

Great River Energy (Minnesota) has rejected 31 proposals from 17 organisations for constructing a new 150MW generating plant and decided to do the USD 70–80 million project itself. The proposed plant would be capable of producing approximately 150MW and be able to burn either fuel oil or natural gas. The plant will be a so-called peaking plant and so will operate about 5% of the time and only when demand spikes.
