Ulbrich purchases wire company

In the face of market uncertainties, Ulbrich has just purchased the Flat Wire division of Steel Heddle Manufacturing in Westminster, South Carolina, thereby doubling the size of its Wire production. The new company, called Ulbrich Precision Flat Wire will be a stablemate of Ulbrich Shaped Wire in North Haven, Connecticut, and the full range of their combined capabilities will go to market as the Ulbrich Wire Group under the leadership of Jay Cei, Ulbrich’s Chief Financial Officer and Board member.
Steel Heddle Manufacturing was originally in the business of manufacturing reeds and heddles for textile looms and later developed its Flat Wire division to provide a consistent, high quality source of raw material. Over time, the Flat Wire division became more and more successful in its own right and began expanding to provide material for the electronics, solar energy, and down-hole exploration equipment industries. The division added aluminum and red metals to its stainless and carbon mainstay products and developed many unique processing capabilities catering to niche markets.
