UK Titanium secures industry approval

Castings Technology International (Cti) has successfully completed the latest, stringent approval process required to supply titanium castings for use by the Norwegian offshore oil and gas industry. The UK-based specialist supplier can now supply conventional and centrispun castings of any weight for use on rigs and under the sea.

The company already supplies customers in the UK and European oil and gas industry with a range of titanium castings, made using either traditional gravity fed or centrispun technology. Its new approval, to the latest MDS T02 Rev 5 requirements for commercially pure titanium within the Norwegian petroleum industry’s M-650 Rev 4 standard, supersedes its previous NORSOK Rev3 approval. Cti can currently manufacture titanium castings with a cast weight of up to 40.4kg, but is set to increase its capacity to 500kg.
