Uhde lands China contract

Dortmund-based Uhde GmbH has been awarded a contract by Sinopec International in Beijing to engineer China’s biggest vinyl chloride (VCM) plant with a capacity of 400,000 tonnes per year. The contract includes the licence, the basic engineering and providing training and commissioning support to the customer’s personnel. The contract value for the above scope of services amounts to some USD 8.5 million. The plant will be built at the Qilu Petrochemical Company in Shandong Province. The contract for the supply of equipment components has not yet been awarded. It is now the second time that the customer has decided in favour of Uhde and Gendorf-based Vinnolit Technologie GmbH’s Vinnolit process. In 2000 Uhde successfully commissioned an oxychlorination plant with an annual capacity of 80,000 tonnes of ethylene dichloride based on the Vinnolit process for the same company.
