Turku bridge to be clad in stainless

The new Myllysilta bridge to be constructed in Turku will have a modern stainless steel cladding. The cladding will be made out of Outokumpu duplex stainless steel. The new bridge is scheduled for completion next autumn as the original Myllysilta bridge began to sag downwards in March 2010 and had to be demolished. WSP received the design competition award arranged by the city of Turku with their Myllyn Teräs bridge proposal. The bridge will be a continuous beam bridge of composite structure, with a total length of  99m and effective width of 20m. The supporting structures will be manufactured from weatherproof steel and the lower and side surfaces of the bridge will be cladded with Outokumpu duplex stainless steel.
