Turbines installed at Borkum Riffgrund 1 windfarm

Only few days after having reached the 3,000MW milestone, DONG Energy has installed the last of 78 turbines at Borkum Riffgrund 1 Offshore Wind Farm in the German North Sea. The next step will be the final commissioning of all remaining wind turbines. More than half have already been commissioned. All closing activities will run during summer.

When fully operational, the German offshore wind farm will be capable of generating 312MW electricity. The offshore wind farm is owned by DONG Energy (50%), Kirkbi (32%) and William Demant Invest (18%).

DONG Energy is also building the Gode Wind 1+2 in Germany. They are expected to be completed in 2016. With a total capacity of 582MW, they will be the biggest offshore wind farms in Germany and will be able to produce CO2 electricity corresponding to the annual demand of more than 600,000 German households.
