Tubacex advances sustainability with iWAYS technologies

Through the EU-funded iWAYS project, Tubacex is pioneering the deployment of next-generation technologies that recover heat, water, and materials from industrial processes—without interrupting production.

A newly installed Heat Pipe Condensing Economiser (HPCE) captures waste heat from furnaces and reintegrates it into the production cycle, significantly reducing gas consumption and CO₂ emissions. Advanced membrane-based treatment systems are also being trialled, capable of recycling up to 95% of industrial wastewater—a major breakthrough for the steel industry.

Despite the challenges of retrofitting these systems into a continuous 24/7 operation, early results show over a 30% reduction in pollutant emissions, reuse of more than 60% of water from flue gases, and recovery of up to 80% of process heat.

For Tubacex, sustainability is central to business strategy—helping future-proof operations, reduce environmental impact, and create long-term value for stakeholders and society.
