Trinidad builds largest LNG processor

Trinidad has signed an agreement to build the world’s largest processing plant for LNG. Atlantic LNG will begin construction on the plant in August. It will be the company’s fourth production facility at its site in Point Fortin in SW Trinidad. Trinidad is currently the world’s fifth largest exporter of LNG. Atlantic LNG delivers the product to the USA and Spain. New export markets will include the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. The company says the new processing plant will increase production at the site to nearly 15 million tpy from 9 million tpy. Atlantic LNG is run by a multi-national consortium including Amoco Trinidad, British Gas Trinidad, Repsol, Tractebel Trinidad and Trinidad’s state gas company.
