ThyssenKrupp to merge with Corus?

ThyssenKrupp would see some advantages in any future merger between its steel division and the British-Dutch concern Corus. It is a possible option in order to achieve more consolidation in the European steel industry, says the head of ThyssenKrupp’s steel division, Ulrich Middelmann, as reported in London’s Financial Times. During a steel congress in Istanbul he said that no formal discussions with other firms had begun and that ThyssenKrupp would adopt a friendly approach in any attempt at consolidation.
