Norway has approved Houston-based Anadarko, Danish Maersk Olie og Gas and Canadian Talisman Energy as oil and gas operators, the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has said. Maersk is a unit of Danish shipping group AP Moeller-Maersk. Talisman was already an operator after it took over BP’s stake and operatorship of the Gyda field on 1 September, but the company was only now officially approved as an operator, a directorate spokeswoman said. The three raise the number of qualified operators on the Norwegian shelf to 19, nine of which have fields in production, the directorate said. Norway’s oil output averaged 2.74 million barrels per day last month.
