The Netherlands: combined heat and power plant

Tata Power, TATA Steel and Corus Staal BV have signed a MoU for building a 525MW combined-heat and power plant at Corus’ IJmuiden works in the Netherlands. Under this MoU, TATA Power and TATA Steel will set up a JV company to build, own and operate the power plant. This facility will use most of the excess production gases from the steel mills and convert them into steam and power. The plant will be ready in 2013 and partly replace the existing power supply arrangement with another utility. It will also enable the Corus IJmuiden works to secure its own long-term steam and power supplies to ensure efficient operations of its facility.
