Samsung Engineering has won the USD 470 million contract to build an ethane separation plant near Bangkok, for Thai state company PTT Public Co. Ltd. The plant is to be built in the Map at phut Industrial Complex, 180km SE of Bangkok and will process 800mmscfd of gas. Producing 550,000tpy of ethane gas, the plant will boast the world’s largest such capacity. Samsung Engineering received the contract on a turnkey basis, which includes the engineering, procurement, construction and pre-commissioning of the plant. The project is due for completion by February 2010.
