TEPCO to invest in Latin America energy fund

Japan’s largest power utility, Tokyo Electric Power Co., will invest JIY 1.24 billion in a Latin America energy fund to target energy services and co-generation businesses in Brazil and Mexico. The new fund, dubbed Latin America Clean Energy Services Fund LP, will be a limited partnership between Inter-American Development Bank, TEPCO and Sumitomo Corp. Along with dividend payments from investments, the firms expect to receive carbon credits in Latin America. The Inter-American Development Bank will invest up to USD 10 million and Sumitomo up to USD 5.5 million, TEPCO officials said.
