Tata Steel bags Prime Minister’s Trophy

In January, 2015, Tata Steel received the Prime Minister’s Trophy for the ‘Best Performing Integrated Steel Plant’ in the country during the performance year 2010 – 2011. In recognition of the company’s outstanding performance, the Prime Minister’s Trophy was presented by the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to T V Narendran, managing director, India & South East Asia, Tata Steel. This is the eighth time that the company was adjudged as the best steel plant since this trophy was instituted in 1992–93.

Speaking on the occasion, Narendran said: “It’s an honour to receive this award from our Prime Minister, Hon’ble Shri Narendra Modi. It has always been our endeavour to set the benchmark of excellence in efficiency, quality and sustainability in all our operations. This award will greatly motivate us to create higher benchmarks in the steel industry, and to make a meaningful contribution to society and the nation.”

The Company went through three rounds of rigorous assessment, adjudged by a panel of distinguished judges. The enthusiasm and involvement of its employees was highly appreciated by the panel of judges for the Prime Minister’s Trophy, reaffirming the core strength of Tata Steel – its skilled and motivated workforce that has a will to excel.
