Taiwanese stainless start-up

Chang Mien Industries Co. Ltd, complete with ABB electrification, automation and controls, has certified the start-up of its stainless steel Sendzimir mill in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. ABB was responsible for the assembly and commissioning of the entire installation. The power distribution system comprises an ABB 17.5 kV switchboard for medium and low voltage, three ABB power transformers and one ABB excitation transformer. ABB provided by two synchronised ABB 4,000 kW reel motors, one ABB 4,200 kW synchronised motor per cage, three ABB cycloconverters, one set of ABB AC motors for variable speed auxiliary drives and one ABB inverter switchboard. ABB also supplied the sensors and a steel strip flatness and thickness control, plus a monitoring and reporting system capable of defining the workstation adjustments according to the coils used and required finished product specifications.
