Vedanta Resources plans BALCO expansion
Vedanta Resources, a globally diversified metals and mining company, is planning a major expansion in its subsidiary Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO).
Mr Anil Agrawal, Chairman of Vedanta Resources, said, "The group plans to expand the capacity of power plant to 2000MW besides producing 1Mt of aluminium in BALCO.

Vedanta Orissa mining project rejected
The New Deli Government has ordered Vedanta Resources not to proceed with its bauxite mining project in Orissa's Niyamgiri hills until local tribal communities give consent. A government panel said that allowing Vedanta to mine in the area would shake the faith of tribal people in India's laws.
